Tuckpointing can be performed to stop water infiltration, maintenance, or aesthetic purposes. The terms tuckpointing, re-pointing and pointing are used interchangeably. In the process of tuckpointing, all joints are to be ground out to a minimum of ½”, then cleared of debris and dust, once cleared new mortar is installed and hand tooled to the proper profile to create a new watertight joint. Once all mortar is cured, the entire area is cleaned with masonry cleaner in order to accentuate the beauty of the masonry surfaces.
